Relationships (a fragment)

What is it that we fail to understand
about desire and relationships,
when those whose hearts and loyalties are vast as
oceans end up by themselves
while others who find simple, happy partnerships
still feel utterly alone?
What does it say about those of us still searching,
and what is even meant by searching,
as if it's all worthwhile?
In what strange tea of hopes and dreams
do we steep ourselves
and imbue with every ounce of our Romantic longing?
